Sweet Peabody’s is about one thing – creating unbelievably good, fresh, sorbets. That’s all we make, and that’s what we love to do. We believe our sorbets are unlike any others you’ve ever tasted before.

Our small production facility in Napa, CA. produces the finest artisan sorbets in small batches each week based upon what’s in season. We source only the finest ingredients locally and organically whenever possible. We select fruit at the peak of ripeness so our sorbet is almost all naturally sweetened, which leads to an extraordinary product. It’s all dairy and gluten free. It’s whipped, not churned… smooth, not icy.

After 5 years we’re still extremely passionate about making the best non-dairy sorbets. This journey has been unbelievably good! We look forward to seeing you at the 2017 Napa Farmers Market and contact us early to cater your event this summer.

We all scream for sorbet

Made in Napa, the sorbet is handcrafted in small batches with an emphasis on fresh seasonal flavors. Robert Banovic is the extremely friendly and super fun owner of Sweet Peabody’s. Before he was the “Sorbet Man,” Robert worked in customer service and human resources for Gap, Inc. and Joie de Vivre Hospitality over the last 20 years. When Joie de Vivre was sold in 2012 and Robert was laid off, he took some time to reflect on what he really wanted to do next in his life. Ever since he was a little kid he had always loved baking and making desserts. He found that there was a market for a fresh, non-dairy frozen dessert that could be a healthy alternative to ice cream, and he realized that nobody in the area was concentrating on just sorbets.

Originally from New York, Robert thought it would be fun to fabricate a vending cart like the ones you see on the street corners in the city where he could sell sorbet. In the meantime, he worked various seasonal jobs at Melissa Teaff Catering and shared his ideas and dreams with the owner, Melissa. Robert says that Melissa was instrumental in helping him launch Sweet Peabody’s when he finally decided to take the leap. The name Peabody was the name of Robert’s cat who passed away at the age of 15 in 2010, and he wanted to honor his cat’s memory. Plus he thought it was a catchy name for a frozen dessert company.

Sweet Peabody’s homemade sorbets are all natural and do not contain any corn syrup, synthetic stabilizers or any artificial sweeteners or colorings. Robert loves to use the local fruits from the farmers at the Napa farmers market and surrounding area. He loves the fruit from Tenbrink Farm, Bera Ranch, Stokes and Devoto Gardens in the fall. He uses apricots, plums, pluots, cantaloupes, peaches, pears and blueberries from the local farmers and his number one selling sorbet flavor is Silverado Strawberry, which comes from Saetern Family farm on Silverado Trail.

In addition to being at the farmers market in Napa every Saturday during the entire season and every Tuesday now through the end of August, Sweet Peabody’s is available to cater private parties and events all year long.

Robert also supports Napa Humane and will be at the fundraiser “Walk for Animals” at the Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, Aug. 4. Check out his website at sweetpeabodys .com Flavors not to miss at the Market this coming week will be:Silverado Strawberry, Santa Rosa Plum, Apropos Apricot, Bera Ranch Peach, Can’t Elope With Ginger and Fierce Chocolate.

Sonoma Valley Sun likes Sweet Peabody's!

A nice blurb about us in the Sonoma Valley Sun at the Sonoma Farmer’s Market.

“A smattering of new vendors to the market this year features a plethora of new savory options for snacking or downright dining.  In addition to scrumptious sushi, Thai, Mediterranean, crepes, and more, market goers can now nibble on plump, nicely barbecued oysters, crispy fish and chips, grilled tri-tip, and even traditional, southern looking fried chicken I look forward to sampling.

Sweet things are always plentiful.  One could certainly get a sugar high in many forms here, from creative cupcakes and homemade pie, to kettle corn or even my favorite: Thai coconut sticky rice served with slices of fresh mango.  Typically, I tend to bypass most of those sticky sweets and choose from the divine array of fresh fruit from the farm vendors; Oh the cherries and the strawberries!

Although, my favorite new vendor at the market this year is hawking something sweet that I truly cannot resist. Sweet Peabody’s Homemade Sorbet sells sorbet from a cute little cart on the Northeast side of City Hall.  Each flavor changes based on what is in season at the market and are produced in small, handcrafted batches.  The decadent, Campfire Coconut is a lush, creamy concoction of fresh, young roasted coconut and a Silverado Strawberry tasted of nothing more than frozen, super sweet strawberries, intensified.  You’d never guess the Fierce Chocolate was cream-free, nothing more than a lush, velvety cup of frozen, surprisingly low-calorie, dark chocolatey goodness.  I am eager to taste each week’s fun, fruity creation.”
